Our Europe Trip is underway and it's already been epic!
There's so much to update about after just the first 2 events of this years trip!
Firstly we started off with the AYGA (acroyoga gathering in portugal).
This was actually such a nice start to ease into our teaching trip.
We had a weekend intensive with a small group, and then the gathering itself was also a relatively small but lovely group!
The event was held on a farm location with a beautiful dome structure where the acro classes were held.
It felt like a really small and tight community vibe, eating and hanging out together and really getting some good time to connect with participants because of the small group size.
We enjoyed teaching for this event a lot as we could really give more value and time to individual students and share some nice acro stuff.
Like with Ivo and Raquel we were able to exchange some washing machines and fun hands free moves, which was super nice to find another acro couple who are really skilled in machines and hands free.
Big thanks to Pedro also for organizing the event, and we are very excited to see how the farm grows and develops into a great acro space in the future.
Next is when things took a bit of a turn in the wrong direction though...
As we were waiting to board at the gate for our flight to Barcelona, they turned everyone around and informed us the flight had been canceled!
We had planned on arriving the day before the Spanish Acro Convention started, so we had some leeway, but then when trying to re-book and get the next flight it became apparent that no flights were available that would get us to the festival in time for the start...
We ended up needing to book a flight from a different airport the next day, and take a 4 hour bus to the other airport, and even then we only arrived around 11pm to the venue the next day, missing the welcome and first workshop rounds which was pretty sad.
But things worked out all well in the end...
Once we arrived we soon forgot about our stresses and the 32 hour travel, because we were at the Spanish Acro Convention!
This was an event we had been super looking forward to on our trip for several reasons.
Firstly because we had heard good things, but never been before.
Secondly because we knew several participants, teachers and other acro friends would be there, so we were very excited to connect again.
And especially because the teaching lineup was super sick!
There was Fer and Fifi, Ger and Jose, Acro Links, Jordan and Cata, Alfonso and Paula, any many more of course. But these teachers especially had never had the opportunity to join a workshop before, so we were super excited to see what we would learn and see what the workshops were like.
And it didn't disappoint...
We had a fantastic time, and got a bit of everything we were hoping for.
Some new acro skills and inspiration: like icarian back tuck to plank and icarian back tuck, shushanova full castaway version, new details for arabians, fun new flows and we had a bunch of people help us with existing skills too.
A note on the back tuck; we tried this skill last year, and ended up bruised and battered with just not quite getting the rotation and height, and this time they were coming round and landing nicely, so we were super happy with that!
We also want to give a big thank you to Kat and Jared especially who not only did we have a really nice time connecting and hanging out with more, but they also helped us with our standing courbettes, 3 high, mono foot to hands, and especially entertained some of our stupid ideas like flipflopcheskas!
It's thanks to them that we feel a bit of a breakthrough in our standing courbettes, and feel more confident to start throwing these more regularly.
We also had plenty of time to chat and connect with other teachers and acro friends over tasty meals and feel very fulfilled in that regard.
I also want to emphasize how good the organization, management and hosting was for this event!
As fest organizers ourselves we know what it takes, and this event was done so, so well!
Pri was the ever-present host, pulling it all together, and the rest of the organizing team did an incredible job to make everything flow and run smoothly.
It's a big statement, but the Spanish Acro Convention has jumped right to the top of our favorite acro festivals.
We are very honored to have been able to be a part of it, and hopefully will be able to join in future years too!
And we can highly recommend it if you're looking for a high-level, well run and amazing all round acro event!
Now we are back in the UK seeing my family, and getting some much needed rest and work time before we head to the next series of events.
Our bodies were so sore from all the fun acro, and we definitely need this rest to be in top condition for Denmark, Finland and Slovenia that we have next up!
More acro skills and more acro friends to look forward to seeing in the next weeks, yay :)
I also just wanted to remind you about our Vienna events in mid August. In case you are looking to learn some acro from us whilst we are in Europe this summer, the best opportunity is in Vienna...
We will be running our level 1, 50 hour acro training where we go deep on the basics and foundational stuff, and directly after that we are running a weekend intensive that is more intermediate + level working on machines, hand to hands, icarians and more.
These are the events where we can really share more and go deeper if you're wanting to learn and absorb more acro stuff from us :)
So maybe see you somewhere in Europe, or stay tuned here as we will share some more acro tips from what we learn during our trip.
Cheers,
Cas
